First with TB Wide in the Swedish market
Arla Foods in Jönköping was first in Sweden with TB Wide. The project was concluded during spring 2004 and was a cooperation between Arla Foods, Tetra Pak Sverige and Tetra Brik Carton Chilled in Lund. The results were good, thanks to the fact that various individuals, competencies and organisations have been involved. The TB/8 machines at the dairy have been converted for a modification to larger rollers with strips, which means fewer changes for the operators.
”A major advantage with separate strips is that we can more easily avoid damage to the packaging rollers which previously had fixed strips”, says Jörgen Grauss, Production Manager at Arla Foods in Jönköping.
”We have raised both the levels and our demands for performance and hygiene with the implementation of TB Wide. Our machines should not just meet current requirements but also more stringent requirements in the future. This is definitely an investment in the future”, says Jörgen Grauss. He believes that the packaging wastage can be maintained at the same low level as before.
Tighter routines
We have improved our routines. Every half-hour we open up a package and check that the strip is fitted firmly in place. This is a procedure we should have introduced before TB Wide was installed, so it is nothing but positive that we tightened up the routines.
