Tetra Pak supports EU’s efforts to promote sustainable
energy use

In conjunction with EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2009, Tetra Pak, in partnership with a world leading retailer Carrefour, is launching an environmental awareness campaign in more than 600 Carrefour hypermarkets across several European countries: France, Belgium, Italy and Spain.

Between the end of January and mid-February 2009, Carrefour branded milk or juice in these markets will be packaged in specially designed Tetra Pak cartons which aim to inform consumers about the benefit of beverage cartons and the importance of recycling to the climate challenge.

This joint campaign with Carrefour is a practical example of the role of packaging in raising consumer awareness on ways to tackle climate change like saving energy and using renewable resources. Through the information and messages it can carry, packaging can be influential in helping guide consumer behaviour.

EUSEW is an important annual EU event organized by the European Commission to promote the sustainable use of energy in Europe. It takes place in February 2009.
