Our concerns are global
The United Nations have highlighted that:
- More than 1 billion people live on less than 1USD a day and around 2.5 billion live on less than 2USD a day.
- 75 per cent of the world's poor live in rural areas and over half of the world’s extreme poor depend on farming or farm labour.
- Just over 2 billion people are anaemic, just under 2 billion have inadequate iodine nutrition and 254 million preschool children are vitamin A deficient.
- One out of every four children under five – or 146 million children in the developing world – is underweight and at increased risk of an early death.
- 10 million children under the age of five die every year.
- Around 100 million primary school children do not attend school.
- 800 million people in the world lack basic literacy skills. 2/3 of them are women.

Making food safe and available
Developing food processing and packaging capacity is a key driver in developing the agricultural sector in poor countries.
It is necessary to help secure safe food supplies all year round in countries where electricity is not easily available and where the infrastructure makes transportation a challenge.
Food product innovation
We drive continuous research and development on how to utilise local produce for nutritious drinks. Besides milk, we have processed and packaged fruits, soy, rice, corn, peas, maize, cassava and sorghum.
Using local produce gives drinks tastes that are customised to local preferences. By fortifying them with micronutrients we ensure that products satisfy nutritional requirements.
New areas of use create increased demand for locally produced crops and help develop the agricultural sector.
Knowledge sharing
We make a conscious effort to transfer knowledge and expertise, to build local capacity and to ensure self-sufficiency and sustainability.
