School milk in Romania

The government-driven school milk programme “Roll and Bun” was introduced in 2002 and today approximately 2.5 million children are benefiting from drinking 200 ml milk in schools together with the bakery roll. The government plays the role of promoting the principles of a balanced and healthy diet from early age. The quality control of milk is ensured through The National Authority of Consumer Protection.

Tetra Pak has contributed since 2004 with the environmental education, launching a contest of school milk packages collection and organizing seminars with the mini-pulper/ demo equipment for recycling. An alias of Superman (SuperPak) energizes the educational seminars and he goes every month to the winning school for awarding the children and their teachers with objects obtained from the recycling of Tetra Pak packages (Yo-Yo, key rings, Tectan panel boards)”
