Food fortification* has been used in industrialised countries for over 80 years, improving the diets of hundreds of millions of people.
People in different regions of the world suffer from different micronutrient deficiencies, depending on their diet. Fortification of school feeding should be adapted to the needs of the population. Many school feeding programmes add vitamins and minerals to distributed food.
We work actively with industry and scientific partners to develop tailor made formulas for specific school feeding programmes.
Food fortification is an extra cost in a school feeding programme. But is just a small part of the entire school feeding budget compared to the added value it delivers.
