The 60s

Baby Boomers and “all you need is love”. Man goes to the moon, the Berlin Wall goes up – and milk goes bacteria free.

1960 – Mexico Milk

Tetra Pak expands into Central America and opens a production plant for packaging material in Mexico.

1961 – Hello Ultra-Hygiene

The first aseptic filling machine for bacteria-free milk is presented. In the same year, Tetra Pak goes east, selling packaging machines to the USSR.

1962 – Go West

We start to market tetrahedron-shaped cartons in the USA.

1963 – The Tetra Brik package makes an entrance

The Tetra Brik package is launched in Sweden, first in Motala and then in Stockholm.

1964 – Into the Middle East

We enter the Middle East market by installing a Tetra Classic Aseptic machine in Lebanon.

1965 – The Tetra Rex package arrives

Åkerlund & Rausing is sold to free up finances for further development within AB Tetra Pak. The Tetra Rex package, a gable-top package, is presented for the first time.

1969 – The first series of Tetra Brik Aseptic machines

The first series of Tetra Brik Aseptic machines are built. Tetra Classic Aseptic machines for one-litre cartons and two new Tetra Rex machines are introduced.
