The world goes disco crazy while the Godfather makes you an offer. The oil crisis keeps cars off the road and Tetra Pak sells 20 billion units.
1971 – Ten billion packages a year
We extend into the Far East by opening a plant in Japan. The total annual production of Tetra Pak packages exceeds 10 billion units.
1972 – From China to Africa
We make a debut in the People's Republic of China at the Peking Trade Fair and open a training centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
1974 – Milk down under
Tetra Pak Australia starts its own plant for packaging material.
1975 – Social programme in Iran
We sign a major contract with Iran within the framework of an extensive social programme highlighting protein supply.
1976 – The Tetra King package arrives
The first field test for the Tetra King packaging system takes place in a small number of shops in the area in and around Lund, Sweden.
1977 – 20 billion packages
Annual production of packages exceeds 20 billion units. The Tetra Brik packaging system is introduced in the US.
1978 – First first Tetra King machine to Germany
The first Tetra King machine is delivered to Hamburg, Germany, packing cream in 250 ml packages. Tetra Pak gets a grip in South America and opens a plant for packaging material in Monte Mor, Brazil.
1979 – Tea to China
Tetra Pak delivers the first Tetra Brik Aseptic machine to the People's Republic of China. Products include chrysanthemum tea and sugar-cane juice.
