Tetra Rex® cartons now available with FSC® label

Tetra Pak has taken another step forward in driving environmental excellence, with Forest Stewardship Council® certified cartons now available across its entire offering in Oceania.

“It’s great news for our customers that Tetra Rex cartons are now available with the FSC logo, because we know that the environment is an increasingly important issue for consumers,” said Cheryl Speechley, Environment Manager, Tetra Pak Oceania.

“In a recent global survey of 6000 consumers in 12 countries, more than three-quarters said that environmentally sound packaging influences the beverage brand they buy.

"Today 19% of Australians (2015) recognise the FSC logo, a significant increase from 2010 when consumer awareness was measured at just 9%. This result has been achieved in partnership with brands who have taken on a leadership role in communicating their commitment to responsible sourcing of forest products and helping to take care of forests for future generations." said FSC Australia CEO Adam Beaumont.

One of these brand leaders is Murray Goulburn. Since 2013 they have purchased over 350 million FSC labelled Tetra Pak packages and they are the first in Oceania to include the FSC label on a Tetra Rex carton for their Devondale 3D flavoured milk range. The Devondale 3D Coffee, Chocolate and Strawberry milk range is distributed through petrol and convenience channels in 300ml & 600ml cartons.

Murray Goulburn Foodservice Marketing Manager Allison Freame said: "We are excited to commence using the FSC logo on our new fresh milk offering manufactured at Kiewa in Northern Victoria. Ongoing sustainability is an important goal of our company and we are pleased to be supporting Tetra Pak on this new innovation."

Murray Goulburn, which has a number of major contracts with Coles for chilled milk, also introduced the first automated plants for pasteurised milk in Australia.
