Raw materials

Across our packaging portfolio our primary material is paper, coming from forests - a natural and renewable resource. Renewable resources are a preferred environmental choice as they can be regrown or produced without depletion of natural resources. To produce packaging materials, Tetra Pak uses paperboard, plastic and aluminium foil. The production of these raw materials at our suppliers' is associated with significant resource use and emissions to air and water. In fact, raw materials production has the greatest environmental impact of all stages within the package life cycle. Therefore, efficient use of raw materials is an important element of Tetra Pak’s environmental strategy.
