Partnerships on Forestry
Tetra Pak carton packages are mainly made from paperboard. As a large buyer of paperboard we need to ensure that the forests our paperboard suppliers source from are continuing to grow and are managed in a way that promotes biodiversity and is sustainable for local communities.
We work with some of the organisations who most stringently guard the world's forests and whose goal is to preserve and enrich them. We are cooperating with WWF since 2006, we are currently on the boards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the High Conservation Value Resource Network (HCVRN), and we are members of the Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN). The aim of such cooperation is quite broad: we seek their guidance to define ambitions and objectives; we help them achieving their own objectives; and we together find opportunities to directly engage in projects and activities that promote and enhance certification.
But that is not all; we have been measuring our own progress to meet the objectives set out in our forestry programme and have had our performance independently audited by ProForest. Read more on our environmental performance pages.
