The total water use increased slightly also in 2009. Market Companies and Support Services increased their water consumption, while packaging material production sites and production units for openings, closures and straws were keeping a similar level as the previous year. Processing equipment sites decreased their share of water consumption considerably, from 16% to 8%.

Water is mostly drawn from public supply, but some sites have their own well.
