FSC certification
To be able to host the FSC label, a Tetra Pak carton must comply with FSC requirements relating to both its paperboard content’s origin and its traceability
- FSC forest management certification: The wood fibre in the paperboard must come from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources, as defined by FSC.
- FSC chain-of-custody certification: The paperboard must be traceable all the way from the tree harvesting operation in the forest to the moment the beverage cartons are printed in our own factories Each of the many entities in the supply chain must have a FSC chain-of-custody certificate.
For certification of the chain-of-custody of Tetra Pak’s own operations, we have chosen to work with the Rainforest Alliance, one of the world’s largest certification bodies accredited by FSC and its partner NEPCon who manages the SmartWood forestry program of the Rainforest Alliance in Europe and Russia. The Rainforest Alliance is an International non-governmental organisation that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behaviour.
