'Doh Bin' is a Citizens' initiative by Tetra Pak and Coca-Cola India in partnership with IPCA and PEG for waste segregation. Doh-Bin has been an effort to raise awareness about segregation of household waste at source into wet and dry waste. It also aims at establishing a safer system to sort recyclables for recycling. The pilot project was launched in DLF phase IV, Gurgaon on 1st December 2013.

Waste management, undoubtedly is a major concern in Gurgaon; every day as much as 500 tons of waste reaches the city landfill. Burgeoning population, inadequate waste management systems and public apathy have led the city struggling for years, to find a way to responsibly manage the ever-increasing amount of trash.

The objectives of Doh bin are:

  • Reinforcing commitment towards promoting a healthy environment and best recycling practices
  • Control what is being sent to the landfills and improve the use of our limited resources through recycling
  • Sensitise and involve RWAs and households to segregate wet and dry waste and incorporate a better waste management system.
  • Help cultivate and build on the much needed behavioural change among individuals on waste reduction and recycling.
  • Conduct workshops for the garbage picker community to educate them about the importance of waste segregation.
