Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the ‘Make in India Week’. It was a proud moment for Tetra Pak® when he also visited the Tetra Pak® site at Chakan and lauded the world class standards that led to the facility being awarded the IGBC ‘Green Building’ platinum certification and several food safety awards. He also appreciated how Tetra Pak® is not only making it possible to deliver safe packaged foods to every corner of India but also fulfilling its environmental responsibilities by setting up a recycling ecosystem to enable recycling of more and more of the used cartons. For him, Tetra Pak® was a great example of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make for India’.
Tetra Pak® cartons are primarily paper-based and fully recyclable. The company has been working in partnership with government agencies, NGOs, the waste trade and recyclers over the last 15 years to build a sustainable used cartons collection and recycling ecosystem. It enables used beverage cartons to get a new life, and in the process, providing waste pickers an additional livelihood opportunity.

The ‘Cartons Le Aao, Classroom Banao’ campaign was launched as part of Tetra Pak’s® ongoing flagship programme ‘Go Green with Tetra Pak®’. It was undertaken in collaboration with retail chains Reliance Fresh, Sahakari Bhandar, Reliance Smart and R U Recycling (RUR), a Mumbai-based environment group at the forefront of promoting recycling. This campaign urges citizens to collect and deposit used cartons that can then be recycled into school desks and other school infrastructure for lesser privileged schools. UHT (Ultra-high temperature) treated milk, packed in six-layers of Tetra Pak® packaging, is bacteria-free and can be safely transported across geographies without the need for refrigeration or preservatives. To educate consumers about the technology that makes the milk safe and keeps it safe for consumption, Tetra Pak® recently launched the 'Safe for Sure' campaign. Tetra Pak® has partnered with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for their campaign around Safe and Nutritious Food. The recently launched campaign is aimed at spreading awareness about food safety and nutritious food through interactive workshops at over 100 schools, RWAs and other locations across South Delhi and Gurugram between May and July 2017. This partnership is an extension of Tetra Pak® ‘Safe for Sure’ campaign which was launched to create awareness about the benefits of UHT milk and aseptic technology. The campaign is delivering the message through special mascots, Master Sehat and Miss Sehat, two superheroes committed to helping kids adopt healthy eating habits.
