Preserving What's Good
Tetra Pak's unique innovations have changed the way food is packaged and distributed around the world, bringing to life our vision: We commit to making food safe and available everywhere.
In 1961, Tetra Pak introduced the first aseptic filling machine for bacteria-free milk allowing populations, especially in underdeveloped areas, access to food products they could not have otherwise. Since then, aseptic packaging (known as shelf stable) has been used for a wide variety of products all over the world, delivering product safety, nutritional protection and consumer convenience. Aseptic technology allows food to be preserved free of harmful bacteria without need for refrigeration or added preservatives.
In 1989, the Institute of Food Technologists recognized aseptic technology among the top ten food innovations of the century. For more information on aseptic technology please click here.
Today, aseptic technology is the solution for food manufacturers to deliver innovation to the marketplace thanks to the gentle heat treatment that avoids degradation of sensitive and expensive ingredients
Our technology helps address a growing global concern about food safety. Tetra Pak has a long history of holding its packages to the highest standard of food quality and safety in the industry. All our packaging systems comply with all relevant food safety regulations. We continuously monitor our products and packaging material and strictly abide by all applicable regulations, including migrants from packaging
