Protecting the environment while delivering on consumer preferences

50% of respondents to the latest Tetra Pak Index said environmental issues are a key global concern. And half of respondents now believe that “every choice I make in my daily life affects the environment”. Renewable straws, caps and protective materials can meet their needs.

Plant-based materials are renewable where responsibly sourced. To support responsible sourcing practices, we work with third party certification standards such as Forest Stewardship CouncilTM2, Bonsucro (www.bonsucro.com) and RSB (Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials). These strategic partnerships help us to conserve and restore biodiversity, mitigate and adapt to climate change, contribute to global water resilience, and restore nature.

100% of the paperboard and plant-based polymers in our carton packages comes from controlled or certified sources – and our plant-based portfolio, comprising plant-based straws, caps and protective materials, is increasing every year. In 2021, we sold 17.6 billion plant-based packages, resulting in 96 kilotonnes of CO2 saved compared to the CO2 that would have been emitted using fossil-based plastic.
