Creating 'Green Agents of Change'

Tetra Pak in association with TERI initiated Project SEARCH which aims to create 'Green Agents of Change' by talking to students and instilling in them a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
Promoting recycling awareness among students in India

Since its inception in June 2009, Project SEARCH has now reached out to over 200 schools in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Panaji. Currently over 2 lakh students are a part of this green initiative. The main programmes nurtured under Project Search are STEP (Sensitizing, Training and Educating Peers), Tetra Pak Ambassadors, TRASH festival (Thinking, Reflecting and Acting for a Sustainable habitat) and transition programmes.

  • To raise awareness amongst school students on environment in general and recycling in specific.
  • To instil good waste management practices in children and inculcate the habit of recycling.
  • To educate students on nutritional benefits of carton packaging of beverages.
  • To help Tetra Pak set-up collection centres in schools for recycling of used Tetra Pak cartons.

Recognising the potential and contribution of Project SEARCH in the field of education, UNESCO Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) and the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO bestowed the prestigious Wenhui Award for Educational Innovation on it in the whole of Asia and Pacific for the year 2012.
