Taking a more sustainable approach to food production

The world is working towards limiting global warming to 1.5°C – and food systems alone account for one third of global greenhouse gas emissions1. With an expanding population and growing demand for food, we need to find ways to produce, process, package and distribute more food sustainably.

Reducing emissions across the value chain

We are committed to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in our own operations by 2030, with a similar aspiration across our value chain by 2050 through a combination of reduction, mitigation and compensation measures2. Towards our customers, we are working to deliver more efficient equipment and solutions for our customers’ operations, while joining forces with our suppliers to help cut their greenhouse gas emissions by half by 2030.

Contributing to resilient food systems

In a collaborative effort to support the transformation of food systems, we are working across our value chain to increase access to safe food, reduce food loss and waste, and build sustainable food value chains.

Protecting and restoring biodiversity

Together with global and local stakeholders, we are working to protect and restore biodiversity, focusing on responsible sourcing, land restoration and efficient use of water.

Driving circular solutions

To improve collection, sorting and recycling, we are collaborating with stakeholders across the recycling value chain – and we design our carton packages to increase the fibre content and use of recycled materials.
