Tetra Pak® Pasteurizer BF

Tetra Pak® Pasteurizer BF
- flexible beverage pasteurization

Tetra Pak® Pasteurizer BF is a processing unit for highly efficient, continuous temperature treatment of beverage products. The unit is of aseptic or hot-fill design and uses a tubular or plate heat exchanger for indirect heating to obtain a product that can be stored at ambient temperatures.

Tetra Pak Pasteurizer BF is suitable for beverage products such as juices, nectars, still drinks or juice drinks, isotonic beverages, tomato juice, smoothies, energy drinks, milk-juice beverages, and sensitive carbonated soft drinks with or without fibres and particles.

Tetra Pak Pasteurizer BF is available as a standalone unit or as part of a complete line solution.

Features

Pressure differential

Ensures food safety

Booster pumps create a differential pressure between the pasteurized and unpasteurized side of the unit. To further enhance safety, this differential can be monitored by pressure transmitters. If these transmitters 'notice' that the differential has not been maintained, the product is automatically diverted back to the balance tank for recirculation.

Divert system

Monitors pasteurization temperature

The temperature of the product is verified both before and after the holding cell. Product can only continue out of the pasteurizer if it has been heated to the right temperature and held for the right length of time in the holding cell. If this is not the case, a signal is automatically sent to the divert valve, and the product is diverted back to the balance tank for recirculation.

Automatic hibernation

Minimises energy consumption

During water circulation, the flow in the pasteurizer can be decreased, the cooling can be stopped and most connected sub-modules can be switched off. This so-called 'hibernation' minimizes the amount of steam, energy and water consumed while waiting for product to enter the system. The ramp up and ramp down time is only about 2 minutes, which makes it worthwhile using hibernation even during short periods of water circulation.

Low-loss balance tank

Minimizes product losses

A smart balance tank configuration makes it possible to remove the maximum amount of water before product enters the tank, thus reducing the mix of water and product. This method lowers the number of litres in the mix phase by over 50%, leading to a significant reduction in product losses.
Automation solution with operator panel

Automation solution with operator panel

Increased efficiency and safety

Created for operators of every experience level, our integrated automation software is connected to a 21.5” touch screen interface, which gives operators an overview of the pasteurizer, including temperatures, pressures etc. Its performance is displayed in real time and, if there is a fault, the operator receives an immediate alert. If the automation solution is integrated in the line, the whole line can be viewed from one interface.

Optimized pasteurization

Optimized pasteurization

19 – 20% energy savings

Tetra Pak® Pasteurizer BC/BF lets you take advantage of the latest research and pasteurize beverages with under 4.2 pH value at lower temperatures. Our experts have studied this topic in depth and can provide the scientific documentation to support the safety of lower pasteurization temperatures, enabling savings of up to 20% on energy. Please contact your local Tetra Pak® representative to discuss this further.

Options

Deaerator – Eco vacuum and Eco cooling

Saves up to 5,500 l/h water

Thanks to the closed circuit for the condenser cooling medium, water consumption can be cut by up to 5,500 litres/hr. This refers to a unit with a capacity of 15,000 l/hr. The addition of a small, brazed plate heat exchanger means you can close the loop in the water system so that it recirculates rather than going down the drain.
