We joined L-PAK in establishing a recycling line for cartons with capacity to recycle cartons from existing segregated household waste management systems in Russia and Belarus.
The new line, which has an annual capacity of 12,000 tons, will enable the recycling of all used carton packages collected through existing segregated household waste management systems in Russia and Belarus. L-PAK recycles the paperboard component of the into corrugated cardboard and other materials, including secondary packaging for the food and beverage industry. The remaining polyAl is separated and sent to another recycling partner, Investal, for processing into pellets. These can then be used in industrial and consumer products such as composite panels, benches, crates and pens.
The partnership clearly demonstrates the commitment of both parties in building a circular economy, by breathing new life into used packages. "By transforming used beverage cartons into new products, we contribute to a sustainable future and deliver on circular economy principles here and now," says Yulia Ryazanova, L-PAK's Deputy General Director for Marketing. "We believe that this launch will set a benchmark in the industry and we will help to increase recycling at a country level."
