The PESU Program (Panalong Easy sa UBC or Win easy with UBC) is a business development program that seeks to integrate post-consumer cartons into the recycling industry ecosystem through incentives that are given to the consolidator partner and the junk shop network.
With a minimum target weight achieved, junk shops that sign up for the program then collect cartons for a chance to win prizes that support their business. These prizes are based on a theme, which changes monthly. For example, if the theme is fire safety, the prize is a fire extinguisher. Apart from rewarding the junk shops that collect most cartons, the program also emphasizes the recyclability of carton packages and their value for the business.
The program includes incentives for the partner consolidator CARPEL and its network of 10 warehouses across metro Manila and neighbouring provinces. The consolidator is rewarded for volume collected per warehouse and number of active junk shops per warehouse. These incentives help ensure volume as well as distribution in the Philippine solid waste ecosystem.
