RusPRO is the only association in Russia that unites the largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods companies (Tetra Pak, PepsiCo, Nestle, The Coca Cola Company, Danone) in order to reduce waste, develop collection and promote packaging recycling.
In 2020, Tetra Pak supported the launch of the waste segregation project EcoOtvet in Lipetsk, Russia, in partnership with PepsiCo, together with the regional operator CJSC Ecoprom-Lipetsk and the recycling plant L-PAK. The pilot project is based on the work being developed by RusPRO, which aims at converging the efforts of environmentally responsible businesses to dispose of packaging waste into opportunities for tens of thousands of people to separate waste and ensure that it is recycled, avoiding that packaging ends up in landfills.
EcoOtvet focuses on drawing consumer’s attention to recyclability of carton packages. It includes facilitating the collection of used cartons, which are then sent for recycling at L-PAK’s local facility. L-Pak produces paper and corrugated packaging from used carton packages.
At the end of the pilot project, the learnings will support RusPRO’s efforts in implementing a separate waste collection system in other regions.
