YANGON (28 September 2017) – Tetra Pak, the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions company, today reveals the growth ambition for Myanmar, aiming to reach the local production of 300 million packs by 2020. The company's recent participation at ProPak Myanmar to establish its official presence and attract the new customers with the full business offering, was one of the key strategies set to thrive in this high potential emerging market.

"Myanmar has a young and growing population and its GDP has continued to grow around 6-8%, which is a good indication of higher consumer spending power. With the current low penetration of Ready-to-Drink Dairy and Juice categories, Myanmar presents strong opportunity for Tetra Pak," says Mr. CheeChoy Tang, Key Account Director, Tetra Pak (Thailand) Ltd. (Myanmar Representative Office). "As the world's leading food processing and packaging industry innovator, we provide outstanding end-to-end solutions that support customer success, presenting at ProPak Myanmar for the first time was another reinforcement of our commitment to the future of our customers and industry in Myanmar."

The packaging multi-national, who first entered Myanmar in 2013, has been working closely with Myanmar Government on School Milk Program that has improved lives and health of 47,000 primary school students for the past 4 years. While this public initiative continues, the company has also established its office in Yangon in 2016 to ensure the efficiency of the commercial operations, particularly for its first customer who will launch their UHT products in Myanmar by the end of 2017.

In line with category growth forecasts, Ready-to-Drink packaging including UHT¹ carton is becoming more popular due to its convenience and quality. At ProPak Myanmar 2017 Tetra Pak has showcased its end-to-end processing and packaging solutions for the liquid food industry. This includes their international food processing expert team to provide personalized consultation on beverage technology that enable local food manufacturers to achieve superior production, and an interactive platform to explore the world's largest portfolio for packaging and machinery. The company has also joined the conference held by Food Science and Technology Association of Myanmar (FoSTAM) to raise the awareness and address the importance of 'Food Safety and Quality Assurance in Aseptic Packaging for liquid food' among government officials and key opinion leaders.

"Our priority is to deploy integrated processing and packaging solutions that bring nutritious products such as Soya, Dairy and Juice to the Myanmar people. Tetra Pak is 'Future Ready' to bring game-changing solutions here that help customers respond to the fast-changing market conditions and consumer demands we are seeing. Consumption of packaged liquid food is very low in Myanmar, compared to surrounding ASEAN countries and we are confident that Myanmar will have high growth for packaged liquid food in the coming years," says Mr. Tang CheeChoy
