We believe that the most effective way to tackle the global food security and nutrition challenge is to build sustainable food value chains.
The UN predicts that there will be around 9.7 billion people on the planet by 2050. Income levels will be many multiples of what they are now, putting more pressure on food production, land and water sources. In order to feed this larger, urban and wealthier population, food production (net of food used for biofuels) must increase by 70 percent.
Tetra Laval Food for Development drives the development of the dairy and food value chain through cooperation with customers, governments, development cooperation agencies, funding organisations and NGO’s all over the world.
For more than 50 years, we have supported school feeding and nutrition programmes. In 2016, 67 million children in 57 countries received milk or other nutritious beverages in Tetra Pak packages in their schools.
With the global demand for milk set to overtake supply within a decade, the dairy industry is facing immense pressure. Through our Dairy Hub model, we help build sustainable value chains by supporting smallholder farmers and connecting our customers to higher-quality milk.
Our DEEPER IN THE PYRAMID strategy is helping to bring safe, healthy and nutritious products to millions of low-income households.
