FSC Friday

Tetra Pak South Africa celebrates the importance of forestry; it is also an opportunity to support the FSC certification. We are globally involved in FSC Friday activities around the world in various market companies. In South Africa, we celebrated it internally as well as on our social media.

World School Milk Day

Tetra Pak South Africa recently celebrated World School Milk Day in South Africa by visiting the Esithebeni Primary School to educate over 900 Grade R to Grade 4 pupils about the benefits of drinking safe and healthy milk. We aim to get the children interested to stimulate and reinforce the learning aspect of World School Milk Day so they can value the benefits of drinking milk.

National Nutrition Week

Under the theme "Eating Healthy in Schools," Tetra Pak South Africa collaborated with the South African National Department of Basic Education (DBE) to celebrate the National Nutrition Week, which is celebrated annually to convey key messages on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. As part of the activity representatives of both organisations gave presentations at 25 schools engaging 8,000 learners in the Sekhukhune District in Limpopo Province, Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal.

School feeding public-private partnerships illuminate a bright future for Africa

1,8 million African children in seven countries received UHT milk and other beverages in Tetra Pak packages in 2015 alone. Sustainable school feeding programmes effectively improve health and education for vulnerable groups. Efficient practical implementation of school feeding and nutrition programmes is key to achieve best possible results. Our commitment to food safety has provided school children all over the world access to nutrition. Through partnerships, for example with UN agencies, governments, NGOs and development agencies, we share best practices and our knowledge in school feeding worldwide. We offer our partners practical support in implementation and evaluation of school feeding programmes, and can advise on food safety and quality controls in schools.
