For a better tomorrow for all

Sustainability is the main challenge for all industries today. But it is also a great opportunity. An opportunity to create better products, better production methods and better workplaces. An opportunity to build businesses that are truly sustainable – environmentally, financially and socially. Because it’s the only way forward. Our vision is to facilitate sustainable change together with our customers. For a better tomorrow for all.

Sensors, automation and attention to the smaller things pays off for the environment

The Tetra Pak® Indirect UHT unit is built for highly efficient, continuous UHT treatment of dairy products, and is noteworthy for its many environmental features. Our smart IntelliCIP 2.0 solution uses a sensor to activate CIP cycles only when they are needed, depending on the degree of fouling. Cleaning programs can be shortened by up to 60 minutes, releasing this time for extra production and reducing power consumption. If there is a time gap between pre-sterilization and production, the optional auto hibernation mode reduces the amount of energy and cooling water during sterile water circulation by up to 85% – without losing the aseptic status of the plant! Radical streamlining of a basic process cuts environmental impact

Our OneStep technology makes the traditional process of. producing UHT milk from powder shorter and easier, with a greatly reduced environmental impact. Separation and standardization are integrated into the UHT unit, eliminating pretreatment pasteurization and temporary storage. It reduces electricity usage by 31%, steam by 78% and freshwater consumption by 40%. In addition, product losses are cut by 33%, CO2 by 56% and COD effluent load by 66%. Total costs are cut by up to 32%, depending on the market. Our performance guarantees cover the key areas linked to environmental impact. More efficiency with less pressure cuts energy consumption

The unique design of the HD EnergyIQ homogenization device splits up the milk flow over many gaps, leading to high homogenization efficiency at lower pressure, with much reduced energy consumption. Our specialists can help you measure particle size distribution and calculate the milk homogenization efficiency, as well as determine the optimal pressure for your desired shelf life. These optimizing pressures give you the potential of huge instant cost saving as well as cutting environmental impact; consuming only 0.3 kW per 1000 litres of homogenized pasteurized milk.

Energy consumption cut by 40% with energy-efficient separator

Tetra Pak® Separators with Encapt™ technology are the most energy-efficient high-capacity separators available. By using low pressure and reduced air friction around the separator bowl, Encapt™ cuts energy consumption by 7-9 kW, or about 40%, compared to other separators.

Energizing heat recovery with ultra-hygienic heat exchanger

The Tetra Pak@ Tubular Heat Exchanger with product-to-product (P2P) technology is a 3-A-certified, ultra-hygienic tube heat exchanger that can more than halve your energy and investment costs compared to the product-to-water (P2W) options. Its energy efficiency is up to 55% higher thanks to lower consumption of steam and cooling water. Direct product-to-product regeneration enables low steam consumption (only 20 kg/1000 kg of product) and makes 92% heat recovery possible. Its ultra-compact design also uses less steel than P2W alternatives, making it much more affordable.

Improving wastewater management with RO filtration

Membrane filtration solutions are commonly used for dairy and plant-based products, because they are a very efficient way to exploit raw materials and reuse water. Of the four different membrane processes used in liquid separation, reverse osmosis (RO) is the process with the tightest membrane. RO filtration can concentrate components from milk, whey, and plant based fluids, so that only water passes through the membrane. The excess water can be used in the production processes. The result is reduced environmental impact with less freshwater consumption and reduced need for wastewater management.

Upgrades make a difference to the environment

Tetra Pak® Upgrades are retrofittable kits, pre-defined products or customized solutions that further improve the performance of your installed equipment and extend its lifetime and value. Upgrading can make a significant difference when you’re looking to stay ahead of the competition, because they help drive improvements in many areas, including reducing emissions and harmful substances, improving occupational health and safety, food safety, and of course operating costs.

Service agreements with guarantees improve performance and reduce waste

Tetra Pak® Plant Care customized service agreements improve production performance and plant availability through maintenance and other services. Options include predictable maintenance costs, performance guarantees, or operational cost guarantees. The greater responsibility we take, the more we can guarantee. By offering one customer a tailormade service solution – including maintenance planning and execution, spare parts management, competence development and performance management – they managed to reduce their waste by roughly 50%. Our collaboration also improved the line machine mechanical efficiency (LMME) by 3%.
