What makes a great package design?

Look at it! How proudly it expresses itself on the shelf, catching the eyes of exactly the right consumers, conveying your brand and your values. A dream package for your product. But there’s much more to it than just good looks.

Angles on a Tetra Prisma Aseptic package

Only good angles

All our packages are designed to stand out, whether on shelves, in refrigerators and cafés or online. However, the unique eight-sided shape of Tetra Prisma® Aseptic creates opportunities for even more stunning designs, telling your brand story no matter which angle the consumer is looking at it from. Let’s make the corner panels pop!

First impressions last

Even if the inside is what matters most, the look of your product does affect the consumers’ first impression. It’s the 8-second moment of truth; the critical first seconds when people notice the product’s colour, shape and shelf display from a distance. Make your brand shine with metallized or holographic packaging material effects or convey a more natural feeling with matte paperboard. But beware of too many details. The brain prefers clean, uncluttered designs.1

Design inspiration with Tetra Prisma Aseptic

Same product, different looks

How about a wall of your products? With Tetra Pak® Custom Printing, you can create a massive billboard effect on the shelf or make unique packages for different target audiences. This fits well with the personalisation trend, where consumers are looking to find exactly the right ready-to-drink coffee products for their unique needs and taste preferences.

DreamCap™ 26, tethered and non-tethered caps

Comfortable to hold and drink from

Since consumers often drink directly from on-the-go packages, it’s important to offer them smooth drinking experience. A package like the Tetra Prisma® Aseptic has an ergonomic design that fits all hand sizes, and a slanted top for good product flow. Combined with the DreamCap™ 26 or DreamCap™ 26 Pro opening, it’s a positive pleasure to hold and drink from.

Backpack-ready

Their convenient size and the fact that aseptic portion packs do not require refrigeration make them easy to store and carry around in a backpack. The resealable cap adds further convenience, allowing packages to be securely closed after opening.

Protects flavour and quality

Ready-to-drink coffee is at its best when its distinctive aroma and flavour are preserved throughout the supply chain. Our packaging material helps protect the contents from oxygen, light and moisture exposure, maintaining the flavour profile your consumers expect.

On average, more than 70% of a beverage carton is made of paperboard2 sourced from FSC™-certified forests and other controlled sources3 – a renewable material that can be replenished when responsibly sourced.
Sugarcane plants

More renewables, less CO2

The high share of renewable materials is what gives our carton packages a lower carbon footprint than other packaging options.4 You can further increase the renewable content of your packaging by choosing Bonsucro-certified plant-based polymers.5

Efficient logistics with Tetra Prisma Aseptic cartons

Efficient logistics

Aseptic technology allows for highly efficient, cost-effective transport chains as well as the ability to reach consumers in more remote locations. But that’s not all. Thanks to their square or rectangular footprint, our packages stack efficiently on pallets, which means more product can be delivered in fewer shipments.6

Putting carton in recycling bin

Keeping valuable materials in circulation

Cartons can be recycled wherever collection, sorting and recycling infrastructure is available at scale (this varies by market), and valuable materials can be transformed into other products. We collaborate with stakeholders across the value chain to strengthen recycling systems - investing €42 million in 2025 to expand recycling capacity.7
