Taking a more sustainable approach to food production

The world is working towards limiting global warming to 1.5°C – and food systems alone account for one third of global greenhouse gas emissions1. With an expanding population and growing demand for food, we need to find ways to produce, process, package and distribute more food sustainably.

Reducing emissions across the value chain

We are committed to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in our own operations by 2030 and across our value chain by 2050 through a combination of reduction, mitigation and compensation measures. Towards our customers, we are working to deliver more efficient equipment and solutions for our customers’ operations, while joining forces with our suppliers to help cut their greenhouse gas emissions by half by 2030.

On the horizon: a fibre-based barrier

We’re testing a fibre-based barrier to substitute the aluminium in our packages – early results suggest the new barrier will reduce CO2 emissions compared to traditional aseptic cartons.

Transform your dairy production

Our UHT 2.0 Heating Portfolio using OneStep technology in UHT Milk cuts down the number of processing steps in the dairy compared to a Tetra Pak conventional UHT milk production line and makes the production more flexible and energy efficient.

Driving circular solutions

To improve collection, sorting and recycling, we are collaborating with stakeholders across the recycling value chain to – and we design our carton packages to increase the fibre content and use of recycled materials.
