A vertical accumulator provides higher capacity within a smaller footprint. Its extended uptime and efficient buffering make production lines more productive, more reliable, and more flexible.
Watch the video to see how the Tetra Pak® Accumulator Helix 40 gives you a smart, space-saving edge.
Our reliable, space-efficient accumulator is designed to meet the needs of our packaging lines up to 40,000 p/h. It comes in five different sizes.
First in, first out
Packages always leave the accumulator in the same order they entered, namely the order in which they were produced. The accumulator also preserves the space between each package at all times. This functionality enables full package traceability in the downstream process. In the event of a production issue, affected packages can quickly be identified and removed from the line, leaving compliant packages to continue.
Spiral design
Maintaining proper spacing to avoid contact, packages queue up on a space-saving vertical spiral, available in various lengths to suit line capacity. The filling machine controls the accumulator’s infeed speed; the distribution equipment manages the outfeed.
Small footprint
The accumulator’s vertical helix design saves valuable space inside the production plant. It takes up just 10.6 m2 of space (50-metre model). This delivers a very high accumulation rate per square metre.
Spider unit
The spider unit gently distributes packages between the infeed and outfeed conveyors.
The conveyors dynamically adjust speed to manage flow, the spider ensures smooth handling, prevents damage, maintains correct spacing between packs, and supports a stable accumulation.
Visibility windows
Transparent panels enhance operational visibility, making it easy for operators to monitor the accumulator in real time. Access doors positioned at a convenient height provide easy access for cleaning.
A visibility option is also available, where the entire lower section is transparent, offering significantly improved visibility compared to the standard configuration. Integrated LED lighting inside the accumulator ensures excellent visibility even in low-light conditions, contributing to a safer and more efficient working environment.
Operator interface
The operator panel has an intuitive touch screen interface.
The easy access to essential working parts, large windows through which operators can observe accumulation at first hand, also contributes to the operators' efficiency.
Multi-drive motor
Multiple motors provide better load distribution, reducing strain on both motors and infeed chain while minimising vibrations, ensuring smooth and stable operation.
Integrated dry lubrication system
Integrated dry lubrication system ensures optimal friction level for the internal chain movements, supporting smooth and reliable package transport.
Unlike traditional lubricants, dry lubrication significantly reduces residue build-up, minimising the need for frequent cleaning and contributing to improved hygiene and operational efficiency.
Low or high-pressure cleaning
Cleaning is performed using a spray nozzle system that operates with water only—no detergents required. Two cleaning modes are available: a default low-pressure rinse and an optional high-pressure chain cleaner.
High-pressure chain cleaner (recommended):
This mode thoroughly flushes the entire chain—top and bottom—allowing water to penetrate all moving parts. The result is a significantly extended chain lifetime and reduced need for manual intervention compared to the low-pressure rinse.
Low-pressure rinse:
This system manages product spills during production and keeps the chain clean and operational. Periodic removal and manual cleaning are required several times a year to maintain optimal performance.
Fallen pack sensors
The sensors detect fallen packages, which reduces the risk of jams and ensures smooth operations. This leads to minimising downtime and maintains the flow of production, thereby boosting overall efficiency.
