Get more margin from every litre

Are your processing costs eroding the margin you work so hard to protect? When margins are under pressure, it’s what your processing line costs to run that matters most – every batch, every cleaning cycle, every day, every year. Energy, water, cleaning fluids and lost time are costs that compound fast, directly impacting profitability and ROI. Realise a faster return on your processing investment and strengthen your margin:

  • Reduce your total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to €497,050 or more annually compared to conventional solutions.1
  • Cut sugar dissolving costs by up to €67,750 with hydraulic conveying and cold dissolving.4

In-line blending is completely automated, reducing labour and ensuring consistent accuracy and quality. It also requires significantly less cleaning, which reduces product losses and the consumption of energy, water and CIP fluids for lower operational costs.

A batching system is often a better option when you are producing smaller production volumes, meaning many different products on the same day, and when your products are composed of many different ingredients that require manual unpacking and handling.

Hydraulic conveying combined with cold sugar dissolving avoids the dust and explosion risks associated with pneumatic conveying. The fully closed, hygienic system integrates directly with CIP and dissolves sugar at around 40°C (65°Brix), significantly reducing the energy required compared to hot dissolving. The result for you: faster dissolving, stronger throughput, lower maintenance requirements and a reduced cost per litre.4

Depending on the quality of your sugar, cold dissolving can be combined with UV treatment of the sugar solution. The combination of cold dissolving and UV treatment significantly reduces the consumption of steam and energy to heat treat the product.

Yes, we provide warranties on our equipment, and our service agreements can include performance guarantees on capacities, dosing accuracy and CIP times – so we share in your operational risk.

1 A line solution for standard carbonated soft drink products comprised of a Tetra Pak® Sugar Dissolver with liquid sugar storage tanks, a Tetra Pak® Preparation System B-EXT, a Tetra Pak® In-line Blender B and a carbonator can provide annual TCO savings of €497,050 based on these scenario parameters: 40,000 litres/hour capacity (ratio 1:5.4), 20 hours/day, 300 days/year, 3 product changes per day, steam: €0.033/kg, electricity: €0.15/kWh, water: €0.0043/litre, caustic: €1.12/kg, refrigeration media: €400/ton, Ingredient cost: €2.05/litre, area: €149.9/m²/year. Tetra Pak® Sugar Dissolver calculation based on a Tetra Pak® Sugar Dissolver with hydraulic conveying with an annual operating cost of €51,500 vs. a low efficiency dissolver with pneumatic conveying with an annual operating cost of €119,250. Sugar transport of 15 metres distance from storage to dissolving tank. Pneumatic conveying includes blower, receiving equipment and transfer piping. Sugar solution brix: 65°Brix; Production flow: 7,000 litres/hour. Tetra Pak® Preparation System B-EXT calculation based on 10,000 litres batch size and main savings achieved by CIP centralising, and mixing efficiency (RJM) with the Tetra Pak® Radial Jet Mixer which costs €67,450 annually vs. low-scale powder dissolver and several mixing tanks required by a conventional system which costs €154,200 annually. Tetra Pak® In-line Blender B calculations based on 2 streams, final syrup and water, with blending accuracy of ±0.03°Brix, which improves product yields by €180,800 annually. Carbonator savings based on comparison between a carbonation temperature of 15°C which costs €476,500 annually, vs. a carbonation temperature of 20°C which costs €635,000 annually. The combined operating cost for our line solution is €595,200 vs. €1,092,250 for a less efficient system without our innovations.

2 Advanced mixing technology and automatic Brix control ensure consistent product specification with an inline refractometer that monitors and controls sugar solution quality continuously. Quality is guaranteed within the specifications of the products – 100% of batches meet Brix and mixing quality specifications.

3 Based on the principle of two independent CIP circuits operating simultaneously – one cleaning the syrup room while the other cleans the production line – compared to a single circuit cleaning both sequentially.

4 Savings based on a Tetra Pak® Sugar Dissolver and hydraulic conveying with an annual operating cost of €51,500 vs. a low efficiency dissolver and pneumatic conveying with an annual operating cost of €119,250. Sugar transport distance of 15 metres from storage to dissolving tank. Pneumatic conveying includes blower, receiving equipment and transfer piping. Sugar solution: 65°Brix; Production flow: 7,000 litres/hour; 20 hours/day; 300 days/year. Electricity cost: €0.15/kWh, 16 hours/working day, 300 days of production. Steam: €0.033/kg; Refrigeration media: €400/tonne.

5 Based on a customer installation using two modular batching systems – Tetra Pak® Preparation Systems B-ES (2 × 16,000-litre and 2 × 21,000-litre mixing tanks) – dedicated to three individual bottling lines, one producing 5,400 litres/hour (300 ml PET at 18,000 bottles/hour), one producing 14,400 litres/hour (600 ml glass at 24,000 bottle/hour) and one producing 36,000 litres/hour (1 litre PET). This achieves a capacity increase from 5,400 to 55,800 litres per hour across the three lines.
