Sustainable forestry promotes conservation and management practices that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
It preserves the biological diversity, productivity, capacity for regeneration and vitality of the world’s forests for future generations, and protects the interests and livelihoods of local communities.
It is also one of the most effective ways of countering climate change. According to the UN: “Growing more sustainable forests and the use of long-lasting forest-based products are currently the most effective forms of carbon capture”. Trees absorb carbon from the atmosphere, turning it into wood and releasing oxygen, providing us with air to breathe.
Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™) certification is your guarantee that the paperboard used in every Tetra Recart package we produce comes from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources. Responsible forest management helps look after the environment, animals, plants and local peoples that live in and around forests. Having obtained full FSC™ chain of custody certification across our operations, we can now supply FSC™-labelled packages from anywhere in the world. Chain of custody certification means we are able to trace the wood fibres we use in our packages, all the way from our carton back to the district of origin.
