Improving access to healthy food

We offer our partners practical support in implementing and evaluating school feeding programmes, while also advising on food safety and quality. We also share best practices on environmental education and recycling in schools. Additionally, we support our customers in developing and launching fortified and nutritious beverages that are being used in school feeding programmes.

School feeding programmes improve health and stimulate development by making healthy food accessible – a critical component of UN SDG2, Zero hunger, and in particular targets 2.1 and 2.2 which call for an end to hunger, increased access to safe and nutritious food and the elimination of all forms of malnutrition.

We offer our partners practical support in implementing and evaluating school feeding programmes, while also advising on food safety and quality. Additionally, we support our customers in developing and launching fortified and nutritious beverages that are being used in school feeding programmes.

The first programme using Tetra Pak packages was launched in 1962 in Mexico, in collaboration with the National System for Integral Family Development. Today, it still supports millions of children.

Data shows that school feeding and nutrition programmes can make a critical difference to a child's physical health and development, particularly in emerging countries where food at school is often their first meal of the day.​​

School milk programme promotes food safety and recycling in Sri Lanka​​

A school milk programme launched by the government of Sri Lanka is tackling child malnutrition at the same time as promoting growth in the local dairy sector and raising awareness of environmental issues, including recycling.
