What is Product Mix Phase Reduction?

Minimize product loss during phase change

Mix Phase Reduction enables the customer to reduce product loss when switching between water and product and vice versa.

Mix Phase Reduction comprises of*:

  • Sensors
  • Update of the existing software programs, PLC and local HMI
  • Valves

*depending on existing version the scope will vary

  • Due to a very specific solution of the inlet valve arrangement of the balance tank, a reduction of the mixing phase can be realized.

  • Other improvements apply to the inlet solution, which carries an electronic level control. The device controls the feed pump if cream is processed and the inlet valve if milk is processed.

  • The frequency controlled product pump is also linked to this device. In addition, a frequency controlled pump will have a lower energy consumption.

Increasing operational efficiency is a challenge that many producers face

In this ever-competitive world, businesses are looking to become more efficient by maximizing output and reducing input in order to increase operational efficiency.

Mix Phase Reduction can help to:

Reduce product loss

A reduction in product loss, a substantial annual volume, can add up to a substantial amount of money.

Reduce operational cost

Depending on production schedule and plant set-up, very favorable payback numbers can be achieved.

Reduce environmental impact

Reductions in product loss also result in much less effluence produced, positively impacting environmental values

How it works?

Low-loss balance tank

Fills bottom-up at product change
Sharp border between mixing phases through automation via volume-controlled filling and emptying
Frequency-controlled flow
Applicable for Tetra Therm Family

Savings example

For a Steriliser with a capacity of 15,000 L/h.
Running 20 hours a day.

  • 3 product changes/day
  • 300 production days/year

Reduction in product loss
83 L/production cycle (at 15,000 L/h)

Save up to
~ 129,000 L/year

Annual COD Effluent Load Reduction
~ 25,800 kg/year

Annual Savings
~ € 38,600

For a Steriliser with smaller capacity, for example 6000 L/h, you can save up to €15,000 annually.
