Tetra Pak has launched a revolutionary new filling machine, the Tetra Pak E3/Speed Hyper. It is not just the world’s fastest carton packaging machine; it also reduces operational costs and environmental impacts.1
Peroxide-free packaging material sterilization
The Tetra Pak® E3 Speed Hyper is a filling machine for aseptic packaging of liquid food, which utilises two eBeam lamps to sterilize the inner and outer parts of the packaging material through the production process. Electron emissions guarantee an equivalent sterilization performance to that of hydrogen peroxide systems.
Magnetic positioning system
Magnetic ink is used to print ‘static marks’ on the material, which are later scanned by readers in the machine. Adjustments to the material’s position are then made automatically through the web position active control (WPAC) and tube positioning active control (TPAC) systems. This gives more consistent filling and forming, better sealing quality, less work and less waste - all of which means better MME and MTBF and lower operational costs.
Primary packaging material detection (ppmd)
The operator scans a barcode on the packaging material reel in order to confirm that the packaging material is Tetra Pak approved for use with the eBeam sterilization system. If the material is not compatible, an alert message is generated automatically.
Improved jaw system
The jaw system features additional forming stations (the exact number depends on the package volume in question) and a package extractor. These features enable a controlled transformation of the packaging material (11 packages per second) from a carton tube into individual packages, successful transversal sealing and the safe transport of packages to the final folding unit.
Improved final folding unit
This specially designed final folding unit contains two unique features: a synchronizer and a discharger. Thanks to continuous contact with these mechanisms, the packages are fully controlled from the moment they enter the unit until they are released onto the conveyor. The process runs smoothly, with minimal stops and/or waste.
New operator interface
One common Tetra Pak interface with a consistent ‘look and feel’ (same colours, symbols and images) makes it possible for operators to move effortlessly from one machine to another. Our new operator panel has a wider screen (16:9) and features intuitive icons for additional functionality and improved usability. User guidance and simplified procedures also reduce the time required to perform different operations.
Dynamic pressurization system
A dynamic pressurization system is used to maintain a constant level of air pressure inside the aseptic chamber. The ability to precisely control pressure in this chamber also means the pressure inside the tube can be regulated, and this is a key factor enabling the correct forming of packages at high speed. Furthermore, the dynamic pressurization system makes it possible to limit module height and maintain manageable dimensions for operators.
New service unit
The components in the service unit have been redesigned in order to optimise the use of space. A top opening panel and sliding doors improve usability and ease of access for maintenance staff.
The incredible speed of the Tetra Pak E3/Speed Hyper filling machine comes from the use of electron beam technology - what we call eBeam sterilization. Get all the facts and figures you need to grasp how the Tetra Pak E3/Speed Hyper delivers such outstanding value.
