Tetra Pak and Saudi Top Plastics Collaborate to Enhance PolyAl Recycling in Arabia

In 2019, Tetra Pak's Arabia Area sustainability team sought a suitable partner for advancing polyAl recycling in Saudi Arabia. Their efforts led to a fruitful collaboration with STP (Saudi Top Plastics), an innovative plastic recycler based in Riyadh.

Efficiently recycling all components of carton packages, especially polyAl, was a key challenge in the region. Finding the right partner was essential to establish a comprehensive local recycling solution.

After an extensive search, Tetra Pak identified STP as the ideal collaborator for polyAl recycling. The partnership was cemented with a signed agreement in 2020, solidifying their commitment to advancing polyAl recycling in the region. An extrusion line investment at STP's facility was a critical step in this direction.

The partnership with STP marks a milestone in enhancing recycling capabilities in Saudi Arabia and the Arabian region. It reflects Tetra Pak's commitment to sustainability and circular economy practices. By effectively recycling polyAl, Tetra Pak aims to increase carton recycling rates and reduce environmental impact.

With the investment in the extrusion line, the new recycling plant is scheduled to be operational in 2021. This represents a significant achievement, as it is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and the entire Arabian region. The next steps involve implementing the advanced recycling process and optimising its efficiency for maximum impact in the recycling ecosystem.
