Buffering is a process used to prevent bottlenecks between processing and packaging.
Temporarily storing the product in safe conditions during as production run, the buffer tank balances up and down stream processes in such a way as to minimise product losses and increase efficiency.
Tetra Pak's buffering equipment (including aseptic and high hygiene buffering) consists of an intermediate storage a tank and valve cluster. We offer a range of such tanks for both aseptic and non-aseptic processed products. They can be used for high and low acid viscous food products and liquid food products, with or without particles. We also offer an option for extended shelf life applications, which allows for very accurate control of the product temperature, and thus ensures the highest possible product quality.
The tank is sterilised by steam at a minimum temperature of 125 degrees C for 30 minutes. It is then cooled by water circulating through the cooling jacket.
The high hygiene tank is an intermediate buffer tank between a pasteuriser and a filling machine that evens out capacity differences.
