Tetra Pak and Faundit launch circular bird feeder made from recycled beverage cartons

Oosterhout, 7th November, 2025 – From sparrows to blue tits, more than two hundred bird species nest in the Netherlands every year. Now, they can be fed in a more sustainable way. Faundit is launchign a new circular bird feeder made from recycled Tetra Pak beverage cartons, available exclusively at Action. The product shows how used beverage cartons can find a second life in nature.

A typical beverage carton consists of 75% paper, 21% polymers and 4% aluminum, with the paper sourced from responsibly managed, FSC™-certified forests. In the new bird feeder, the polymer and aluminum layers are given a second life. Together, Tetra Pak and Faundit show how every part of a beverage carton can regain value within a circular economy.

“Circularity doesn’t end with recycling,” says Nathalie Walter, Sustainability Manager at Tetra Pak Benelux & France. “With the launch of this new product, we show how recycled materials can serve new purposes beyond the packaging value chain. This project proves that innovation and collaboration across the chain lead to real, sustainable solutions. Every step that gives materials renewed value brings us closer to a truly circular economy.”

Jeroen Mutsaers, Director of Faundit, highlights the product’s sustainable and practical impact: “Our products invite people to enjoy birds in a natural, responsible way. We have used our many years of knowledge about birds to design this bird feeder, so that it is not only functional but also perfectly suited to their needs. Made by Palurec material, recycled from Tetra Pak beverage cartons, it is also sustainable and meets high safety standers. As a result, it also contributes to closing the circular loop. It shows that materials from recycled sources can become meaningful, everyday products.”
