Accelerating solutions to reduce and prevent food loss & waste

Current food systems are inefficient, with more than a third of all food produced being either lost or wasted1. Food loss is mainly caused by inefficient production and processing practices with food being grown but not preserved.

Efficient food processing technologies and packaging solutions have an important role in improving food supply chains and building resilience into food systems. Aseptic processing solutions protect perishable foods, extending their shelf life.

Meanwhile, aseptic paper-based carton packages help prevent food waste by protecting food and beverages from physical damage, heat, light, and microorganisms. We continue to deliver high performance food processing technology and packaging solutions that help to reduce food loss and waste.

We offer solutions that create value by turning currently wasted low-value side streams from food production into added-value ingredients, and making the most of raw materials.

Our targets towards 2030

We have set measurable targets tied to our pathways, that iterate our role in food systems transformation to accelerate change.

How can reducing food loss and waste advance the food systems transition?

We have collaborated with EY-Parthenon on a series of white papers that explore the opportunities, key enablers and critical success factors for a preferred future by 2040, and outline global focus areas and collective actions to accelerate the transition
