Eindhoven, June 3, 2025 – Q-Pall, a producer of sustainable plastic pallets made from 100% recycled plastic, is expanding its collaboration with Tetra Pak. Together, they are taking a new step towards a circular economy, in which pallets are fully recycled at the end of their lifecycle. By using innovative materials such as PolyAl – the plastic-aluminium residue from recycled beverage cartons – both parties underline their commitment to sustainable solutions within the logistics chain.
From beverage carton to sustainable pallet
Circularity in the food chain is more urgent than ever. From raw material sourcing to transport and recycling: every part counts. That’s why Tetra Pak invested one million euros in 2023 in Recon Polymers in Roosendaal. This company processes PolyAl into high-quality, reusable raw materials for the plastics industry. PolyAl is the plastic-aluminium mixture that remains after paper fibers are removed from beverage cartons.
Q-Pall uses this circular material to produce its plastic pallets. In 2025, the share of PolyAl within the product range will be further expanded. This not only provides tangible proof of circular production, but also directly contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions and raw material usage.
From recyclate to result
Q-Pall’s sustainable pallets are fully recyclable and designed for long life in demanding logistics environments. Thanks to the use of PolyAl, a closed loop is created: used packaging is reprocessed into high-quality pallets, which in turn can be recycled again. This reduces the ecological footprint of the entire chain, from food production to distribution.
Working together for a circular chain
Nathalie Walter, Market Sustainability Manager, France & Benelux, at Tetra Pak: “Our collaboration with Q-Pall shows how strategic partnerships accelerate circularity in the food chain. Q-Pall continuously invests in innovation and processes residual streams like PolyAl in a way that is both ecologically and economically future-proof. Pallet by pallet, we are building a more sustainable chain together.”
Arno Putters, Managing Director at Q-Pall, adds: “At Q-Pall, we believe sustainability should not be an afterthought. We strive to minimize waste and make circular materials accessible to our customers. Our collaboration with Tetra Pak proves that you can truly make an impact with the right partners. We are proud that our pallets are not only functional, but also contribute to a greener future.”
