About

School Recycling Program

In collaboration with Woodlands Dairy, PETCO, and Gayatri Paper Mills we are all working hard to reduce our footprint on the environment by creating market demand for recycled products.

Tetra Pak is partnering with Woodlands Dairy, PETCO and Gayatri Paper Mills to run a collection and recycling competition across various schools in Gqeberha, Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp between July – November 2023.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage learners to take on the responsibility of recycling where they can, which will be done through an education-based competition called “Choose to Recycle” at selected schools in the Eastern Cape between July and November 2023..

Your recycling efforts can make an impact.

Competition Mechanics

  • Learners from participating schools will be encouraged to  collect empty and clean BEVERAGE CARTONS and bring them in to the school – this can be any long life milk carton, juice cartons or custard cartons.
  • As our focus will be on education of recycling cartons, plastic and glass waste will not form part of this competition.

Winning Criteria

  • The top collecting primary school or high school that collects the most carton waste per capita in each of the 3 participating areas (Humansdorp, Jeffreys Bay and Gqeberha) will win the first prize.
  • The 2nd highest collecting school in each of the 3 participating areas will win the 2nd prize.
  • The 3rd highest collecting school in each area will win the 3rd prize.

Help another School of Your Choice

The top-winning school in each participating area will assist another school of their choice. Additionally, they will have the privilege of gifting 40 recycled desks to a school of the winner's choice, crafted from repurposed cardboard packages collected through the #ChooseToRecycle school competition.
