Tomato products – purée, paste, ketchup and sauces

Tomatoes are a rich source of vitamins and minerals. But did you know that processed tomatoes have even higher levels of antioxidants than raw ones? You have plenty to choose from on the shelf.

Tomatoes provide a good source of vitamins and minerals, are low in calories and high in carotenoids, beta-carotene and lycopene. Recent research shows that when processed, tomatoes have even higher levels of lycopene, which is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants.

WHAT OUR SOLUTIONS DO FOR YOU

In the last twenty years, there’s been an explosion of new and refined processed tomato products. Purées and passata have become major products together with ketchup, tomato paste, whole peeled tomatoes, chili sauce, pizza and pasta sauces. Consumers simply love tomatoes.

1. IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

Fine-tune your homogeniser to boost quality of tomato products

Small adjustments such as changing pressure can have a significant effect on reducing utilities consumption, stabiliser usage and water separation, while improving mouthfeel and colour of tomato products.

2. FUTURE-PROOF PRODUCTION & TRENDS

This places high demands on your production, and especially on your mixing technology. Based on our specialised food production and technology expertise, our solutions for tomato preparation production help you standardise raw tomato paste, which enables cost-effective, flexible procurement and ensures high production efficiency and consistent quality worldwide.

Growing trends in tomato production

•  Value-added tomato-based products – innovative flavours and ingredients, convenient meal-component sauces

•  More natural products – with fewer additives and preservatives
•  Cost-effective, flexible production of a wide range of high quality products
•  Product examples: Passata, purée, paste, salsa, pizza sauce, ketchup, juice and soup

4. RESOURCES

Fine-tune your homogeniser to boost quality of tomato products

Small adjustments such as changing pressure can have a significant effect on reducing utilities consumption, stabiliser usage and water separation, while improving mouthfeel and colour of tomato products.

Why two-stage homogenisation is best for tomato products

Up to 20% longer lifetime of spare parts can be achieved on two-stage homogenisation of tomato products compared to one-stage.

The ketchup effect

One of the world’s favourite sauces, ketchup poses challenges for food producers due to its abrasiveness. Here’s how homogenisation can help.
