  • Bactofuge units designed for unmatched flexibility in both capacity and recipe range
Tetra Pak® Bactofuge units

Tetra Pak® Bactofuge unit

Tetra Pak® Bactofuge units are traditionally incorporated in the pre-treatment of cheese milk, where typically butter acid spores (Anaerobic spores) are removed. Bactofuge units are also used to enhance the quality of powders, consumption milk and cream where typically aerobic spores (e.g. Bacillus Cerus) are removed.

The efficiency of the unit is stated as a percentage reduction of the incoming level of bacteria and spores. Generally, the efficiency can go up to 99 %. For installations with high demand on efficiency, two or more units can be installed in series.

Features

Hermetic inlet seals

Hermetic inlet seals

Superior spore and bacteria removal and energy efficiency

Outside the unit, the piping is connected to a rotating spindle by hermetic seals. This prevents any air from entering the Bactofuge unit and any product from leaking out. The absence of air minimizes the risk of particle and aggregate size being reduced. It enables better spore and bacteria removal efficiency at a lower rotation speed and hence lowers energy consumption.

Hollow spindle

Hollow spindle

Gentle treatment safeguards product quality

By contrast to competing models, in Tetra Pak® Bactofuge units the product enters the bowl smoothly and accelerates gradually as it passes through the rotating spindle. This, combined with the absence of air in the system, means the product is handled gently. This ensures that the size of particles and aggregates is always maintained.

Corrosion resistant bowl

Corrosion resistant bowl

Increases bowl lifetime, saves money

The use of Duplex and Super Duplex steel for our bowl material offers a high resistance to corrosion and therefore extends the lifetime of the bowl. We offer a 10 year guarantee on bowl material for all AirTight Design Separators.

Hermetic outlet seals

Hermetic outlet seals

Maintains product quality

The product exits the Bactofuge unit via hermetic outlet seals. This prevents overflow and, in two phase machines, the unwanted mixing of the clean milk with the spore and bacteria enriched milk. It also prevents air entering the machine, which could split the fat globules and cause issues in downstream processes.

Product discharge pumps

Product discharge pumps

Enables flexibility and low energy consumption

The product leaves the Bactofuge unit through one or two rotating pumps, depending on model. The use of pumps - as opposed to the paring discs - makes it possible to run a wide range of capacities in the same machine without any mechanical alterations. It also increases energy efficiency.

Options

Encapt (TM) technology

Encapt (TM) technology

Revolutionary energy-saving technology for high-capacity separators

By lowering pressure and reducing air friction around the separator bowl, EncaptTM cuts the energy consumption of a Tetra Pak® Separator with AirTight technology by up to 40% compared to other separators.* This improves both operational cost and environmental impact. It is achieved through a combination of a low-pressure pump, discharge pump, water lock and hermetically sealed outlet
