Cleaning parameter changes can increase uptime in UHT plants

What is the best and fastest way to clean processing equipment used for ultra-high temperature (UHT) treatment of dairy products?

A recent Tetra Pak backed research project has investigated how to achieve the fastest, most effective method for cleaning UHT dairy processing equipment. The project, performed at SP Food & Bioscience in Gothenburg, Sweden, looked closely at the structure and composition of fouling on heating surfaces and clarified the most important parameters for optimizing cleaning. The results show that producers have the potential to achieve significant savings in terms of increased uptime and reduced energy consumption, simply by changing cleaning parameters.
