Brewers’ Spent Grain – a valuable byproduct

Brewers’ Spent Grain (BSG) is a byproduct of brewing. It is rich in fibre and protein, but very low in sugar. Due to its rapid spoilage, every year about 40 million tons of BSG are mainly used as animal feed or as landfill. Up until now. Because now, we are making this side stream available for usage in the food industry. By upcycling BSG into a liquid ingredient, the next generation of plant-based drinks is taking shape.

Efficient processing of a unique product

Thanks to its low sugar content and a relatively high amount of protein and fibre, BSG boasts a unique nutritional profile. Another plus point is that no additional land, water or fertilizers are required to grow the raw material ingredient.
