1《联合国工商业与人权指导原则》（UNGPs）是关于企业在人权问题上的全球标准。 它们由三个支柱组成：
首先，国家有责任保护人权免受企业的侵害。 其要求国家自由支配各种工具，包括法律、政策、监管和裁决，保护人权免受企业侵害。
其次，企业有责任尊重人权。 也就是说，企业在自身运营或与合作伙伴、供应商和客户的业务关系中不应侵犯人权。 当国家未尽其责时，实现企业的这一责任就会更加困难，但责任仍然存在。
第三，需要提供更广泛的救济途径。 这要求国家和企业在为那些因与企业相关的人权侵犯而受到伤害的人提供有效的救济方面发挥作用，包括司法和非司法救济。
